External Club Competitions & Qualifiers
Dear member,
This year, we have entered a number of external competitions for members to participate in. These are the Daily Mail Foursomes, the Hampshire Sevens and the Kindred Cup.
Daily Mail Foursomes
The Daily Mail Foursomes is an event where we, as a club, enter 1 team (of 2 players) who compete against other clubs. Each round, pairs play a foursomes format match play event against a team from another golf course. A draw is made to work out the first round of fixtures while also dictating whether the match is home or away. These rounds take place over a series of months and it is a knockout competition, so if you lose you are out.
To be able to take part in the competition, you must have an active WHS handicap. The maximum cap on handicaps is an index of 18.0. There will be a foursomes qualifying event run on the date mentioned at the foot of this email with the winning pair being asked to represent Chilworth for the entirety of the competition.
Hampshire Sevens
The Hampshire Sevens is an event where we, as a club, enter a team of 7 players to compete against other clubs. Each round, players are put up against a player from the opposition team in a match play competition with each match being worth 1 point. The points are then totalled for all 7 matches and the team with the most points wins. A draw is made to work out the first round of fixtures while also dictating whether the match is home or away. These rounds take place over a series of months and it is a knockout competition, so if you lose you are out.
To be able to take part in the competition, you must have an active WHS handicap. The maximum cap on handicaps is an index of 15.0. Players above this index can still participate but will have to play off 15.0. There will be a stroke play qualifying event run on the date mentioned at the foot of this email with the best performing players being asked to represent Chilworth for the entirety of the competition.
Kindred Cup
The Kindred Cup is an event where we, as a club, enter 5 teams (of 2 players) to compete against other clubs. Each round, pairs play a foursomes format match play event against an opposition team in a match play competition with each match being worth 1 point. The points are then totalled for all 5 matches and the team with the most points wins.
There will be a foursomes qualifying event run on the date mentioned at the foot of this email with the best preforming players being asked to represent Chilworth for the entirety of the competition.
Cost and qualifying
Players would be required to play a match fee of £10 for each round that they play for all of the above competitions.
We will be running qualifying competitions in both the foursomes and a stroke play format to see who will be selected from the club to play.
These qualifying competitions will be held on the following dates and will replace the standard weekend competitions:
01/02/2025 – 02/02/2025 Foursomes competition (2 ball team event)
08/02/2025 – 09/02/2025 Stroke play competition
Entries for the qualifiers be the standard competition fee of £4.00 per person.
Should you be interested in entering any of the above, please sign up for the rolling competition that correlates to the competition you wish to enter. If selected, you will then be contacted to confirm your place and to inform you of the dates for the first round.
