April Newsletter 2026
As we enter the new season, can we please ask members to only book tee times they are going to use. If you have booked a tee time and will not be using it, please call the shop to cancel so we can open this tee time up for other people. This particularly applies to those who book several slots for friends who do not turn up.
PLEASE NOTE: - If you fail to come into the shop before you go out you will be marked as a ‘no show’ and will receive an email from the Club. If you do this on a second occasion, your ability to book will be restricted. If you are booking for others, please check that those people are able to play and aware you have booked for them.
On Monday we were fully booked and turning people away, but we lost £456 on ‘No Shows’
Mostly this applied to Members.
Greenkeeping
As I am sure you have noticed, we now have two robot mowers which are in use on the front nine. Should you find yourself in the path of one of our mowers, please use your leg to deflect it. This will allow it to re-route to avoid you. We do not recommend using a golf club or your bag for this as it may not stop the mower. Early observations show that they are performing very well and we are happy with the results we are seeing.
This week we have started our greens maintenance. The greens will be undergoing essential maintenance, deep hollow coring and top dressing with sand, seed, and feed. The course will remain fully open during this period, but temporary greens will be in place for all holes. There will be maintenance staff on the greens so please avoid hitting too close to them.
The 8th hole current remains on a temporary green. This is due to the green having a very bare patch which appeared throughout the wet winter we have had. This has recently been overseeded and given time to recover. We also believe the greens maintenance will aid in the recovery.
The path from the 6th green to the 7th tee has recently been renovated. This has involved widening and resurfacing it.
With the start of the golfing season please would all members make a special effort to repair pitch marks and divots. If everyone repaired an extra one each time it would make a tremendous difference to the course.

External competitions
In the Daily Mail Foursomes, the competition has now entered the second round. The men, who won their first match away at Hamptworth and received a bye in the second round, are now into round 3. The ladies, who received a bye in the first round, unfortunately were knockout out by Stoneham in the 2nd round.
Qualifiers to enter both the Kindred Cup and the Hampshire Sevens will be happening over the next few weekends. If you are looking to participate in these competitions, please ensure you take part in the qualifiers (Kindred Cup qualifier weekend of 18th April, is a Greensomes competition so enter as pairs, and the Hampshire Sevens qualifier will be a medal on the weekend of the 25th of April). These two weekends the usual Club competitions will not be held. There will be no entry fee for these qualifiers.
In order to participate, players must have played in 5 qualifying events in the last 12 months before the date of the first match. If you are unsure how many you have done, please ask a member of staff who can check this for you.
